Statement from NYGOP Chairman Ed Cox on NYC Public Advocate Election Results

February 26, 2019

“Tonight, tens of thousands of New Yorkers sent a message that they are unhappy with the direction of this city under liberal Mayor de Blasio and want real accountability. We congratulate Councilman Ulrich on running a hard-fought race and distinguishing himself as a true common-sense candidate. While he came up short, this race affirmed that Republicans can compete in New York City and issues matter. As the only candidate in the race to support Amazon and oppose the congestion pricing tax, he cemented his status as an independent leader who will stand up to powerful political interests on behalf of New York City residents.”
