Statement from NYGOP Chair Ed Cox on Court of Appeals ruling that only citizens may vote

ALBANY – NYGOP Chair Ed Cox released the following statement after the Court of Appeals ruled 6-1 in favor of blocking non-citizens from voting in New York City’s elections. The decision affirmed two lower court decisions that found the New York City law allowing noncitizens to vote to be unconstitutional.

Statement from Ed Cox:

“The Court of Appeals made the correct decision today. Only citizens may vote in our elections. Efforts by radical Democrats on the New York City Council to permit non-citizen voting have been rightly rejected. Our thanks go out to everyone who fought to protect election integrity, including Congressman Nick Langworthy, who began efforts to strike down this law during his time as State Party Chair.”
