In Case You Missed It – The Albany Times Union in an editorial yesterday called out Kathy Hochul and Albany Democrats for their “end run around voters” in signing into law no-excuse mail-in ballots.
The New York Republican State Committee has joined several groups in suing to stop this blatantly unconstitutional law.

Two years ago, voters rejected constitutional amendments that would have expanded voting rights in New York. We didn’t like the outcome, but that’s how democracy works — rather contradictorily in this case, considering these measures would have enhanced democracy in our state.
But them’s the breaks. If you don’t like the outcome, go out and try to change hearts and minds and take another shot at it. That, too, is how democracy works.
Instead, Gov. Kathy Hochul and her fellow Democrats in the Legislature have done an end run around voters, enacting a law that achieves the same goals as one of the amendments, regardless of what the state constitution says, regardless of what voters said they want it to say.
That surely is not how democracy is supposed to work.
