Ed Cox responds to Hakeem Jeffries’ comments on SNAP work rules

ALBANY — NYGOP Chair Ed Cox today released the following statement in response to Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ comments on SNAP work rules:

“Rep. Hakeem Jeffries complains about work rules for SNAP (food stamps). Yet despite low unemployment across the entire state, NYS and the Biden Agriculture Department have waived work rules everywhere in New York.

“Most people agree that if you’re an able-bodied adult and aren’t caring for dependent children at home, you should be required to work. It is long past time that Kathy Hochul ends the waiver and gets able-bodied SNAP recipients into training or into jobs. Jeffries and NY Democrats shouldn’t stand in the way.”
