Statement from NYGOP Nick Langworthy on the Passing of Longtime Dutchess County Sheriff “Butch” Anderson
September 29, 2021
“We are devastated by the passing of our beloved Sheriff and dear friend Butch Anderson. Butch was a larger-than-life figure who was revered by both the leaders and the rank-and-file of our Party in every corner of the state. When Butch walked into a room, he naturally had everyone’s attention. He was often sought after for advice and counsel and was a coveted guest at events for his warmth, humor, and straight-talking, clear-eyed view of the world. His motto was ‘treat others that you want to be treated’ and he lived it every day.
“As a 50-year veteran of law enforcement, his accomplishments are too numerous to list, but his storied career and dedication to service are what legends are made of. There will never be another like him and his absence leaves a huge hole in all of our hearts. I personally will never forget the tremendous support, loyalty, and friendship that Butch showed me. On behalf of the entire New York Republican Party, Erin and I offer our deepest condolences to his wife, Danielle, and their three children.”
