Governor Hochul,
We, the undersigned, urge you to VETO the so-called Medical Aid in Dying Act (S.138/A.136) — a bill that was rushed through Albany with no transparency and no regard for the lives of the most vulnerable among us.
This dangerous legislation:
- Allows lethal drugs to be prescribed without an in-person doctor visit
- Has no required waiting period, unlike other states
- Lacks fundamental protections for the elderly, disabled, or those at risk of coercion
- Provides no requirement for parental involvement
- No second opinion, despite misdiagnosis risks
The bill passed the State Senate (35–27) and Assembly (81–67) with no serious debate, after being rushed through committee in just 12 minutes. Life and death should never be treated as afterthoughts.
Albany politicians are playing politics with human life.
Governor Hochul, we call on you to show real leadership and reject this dangerous, extreme bill.
Protect New Yorkers. Protect Life. Veto S.138 / A.136.
