The Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, has repeatedly refused to condemn the phrase “Globalize the Intifada”— even when asked directly. Globalize the Intifada is not a harmless slogan. The First Intifada (1987– 1990) and the Second Intifada (2000–2005) were marked by brutal waves of terrorism, including suicide bombings on buses, in restaurants, and other civilian areas. These were acts of barbarism committed by radical Islamic terrorists, in the land of America’s greatest ally, Israel.

Alarmingly, Mamdani’s refusal to repudiate this phrase aligns with the worldview of his father, Columbia University Professor Mahmood Mamdani, who has long attempted to whitewash terrorism by reframing it as legitimate “resistance.”

Mamdani’s refusal to condemn terrorism and failure to stamp out calls to globalize it, coupled with his plans to defund the police, is a recipe for disaster. His tax-and-spend proposals will effectively bankrupt the city and should worry us all.
