ALBANY – The NYGOP released the following statement in response to Rep. Josh Riley’s latest demagoguery over the Schumer Shutdown. Riley is now attempting to blame utility companies for furloughed federal workers’ hardship:

“Josh Riley is a liar and a demagogue. If he cared one ounce about federal workers not being paid, he would have voted to keep the government open, or called on Chuck Schumer to reopen the government – especially as funding for SNAP benefits has been halted thanks to Democrats. Instead, he makes wild accusations designed to distract from his and his party’s responsibility for the pain his constituents are feeling.”
