ALBANY – The New York Republican State Committee released the following statement in response to Kathy Hochul’s support for abolishing the electoral college:

“Governor Hochul’s support for abolishing the Electoral College is another radical step in Democrats’ ongoing effort to dismantle any institution that keeps them from power. The Electoral College ensures that every state has a voice in selecting our nation’s leaders. It protects against mob rule, balances the interests of rural and urban areas, and preserves the federalist principles on which our nation was founded.

“With her favorability deep underwater and facing a primary challenge perhaps even from her own Lieutenant Governor, Kathy Hochul is desperate to change the conversation to anything other than her abysmal record.”
