NYGOP CHAIRMAN NICK LANGWORTHY FILES OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AGAINST SCHUMER
FOR VIOLATING RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
Outrageous, Incendiary Attacks On Supreme Court Justices Demand Accountability
New York–March 11th…New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy today announced he has filed an official complaint against Senator Chuck Schumer for violating the rules that govern professional conduct for New York attorneys. Chairman Langworthy filed the complaint with the New York State Grievance Committee for the threats he made last week against Supreme Court Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch.
You can view the complaint below and here. According to the Rules of Professional Conduct (22 NYCRR part 1200), Senator Schumer is in violation of at the minimum three rules, Rule 3.5, Rule 8.2 and Rule 8.4.
“Senator Schumer’s threatening attacks were outrageous, dangerous and completely unacceptable,” said NYGOP Chairman Langworthy. “He embarrassed the state of New York, his office and our country with his actions and he must be held accountable. Last week I called for his censure and today we took the step of filing an official complaint with the Grievance Committee. Our justice system is reliant upon impartiality and Mr. Schumer must be held to the same standard as everyone else.”
In New York, the conduct of attorneys is governed by the Appellate Divisions of State Supreme Court and the Grievance Committees appointed by the respective Appellate Division. The committees are made up of both attorneys and non-attorneys, working with a court-appointed, state financed, full-time professional staff.
