NYGOP CHAIRMAN LANGWORTHY CALLS ON LEGISLATURE TO GET BACK TO WORK
“We don’t live in a monarchy, we need to get back to representative government and return power to the residents of New York State”
New York–May 19th…New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy today called on Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins and Speaker Carl Heastie to call the legislature back to session in Albany and get back to work.
Chairman Langworthy blasted the legislative leaders for embarrassingly abdicating all of their power and duties to a dictatorial governor and rendering the legislature completely impotent and irrelevant in the middle of a crisis. He demanded they fulfill their constitutional obligations as a co-equal branch of state government and return to Albany to restore representative government on behalf of all New Yorkers.
Langworthy noted the Governor has declared the state is facing a devastating $61 billion deficit and the legislative leadership is nowhere to be found to work on solving the problem.
“This Democrat-controlled legislature has proven to be a complete embarrassment,” fumed Chairman Langworthy. “Instead of stepping up to be there for the people they represent during one of our darkest hours, they skulked off and rolled over for a dictatorial governor who is single-handedly making all the decisions that affect 19 million New Yorkers. It’s high time they get back to Albany and get to work. We don’t live in a monarchy and we need a return to democratic government…yesterday.”
