Good morning – In Case You Missed It, NYGOP Upstate Vice Chair Michael Kracker of Erie County had the following op-ed in the Buffalo News last week:
Bruce Blakeman Better Represents the Views of Many Western New Yorkers

The Buffalo News
When Kathy Hochul became governor in 2021, many Western New Yorkers allowed themselves a measure of optimism. She was one of us. Even those who disagreed with her politically hoped she would remember where she came from and give upstate a real voice in Albany.
Instead of standing up for Buffalo and Western New York, Hochul has governed in lockstep with left-leaning politicians in New York City. Those policies are hitting upstate families in their wallets and in their communities.
Utility bills continue to rise under Hochul’s green energy policies that will make it much more difficult to access natural gas. Family farms face crushing mandates written by politicians who don’t know a thing about rural New York. Law-abiding gun owners have seen their rights chipped away.
Correction officers and police have been undermined by policies that favor criminals over victims. Billions have been spent on housing and generous services for illegal immigrants while veterans and seniors struggle to afford groceries, rent, and property taxes.
Like most Western New Yorkers, Bruce Blakeman believes in common sense. Lower energy costs. Back the police. Cut taxes. Give our kids a good education. Get government out of every aspect of our lives. And let people work and build a future here in New York.
That’s exactly what Bruce has done as Nassau County Executive. He held the line on taxes. He prioritized public safety and made his county one of the safest in the state. He has been unapologetic about putting residents first, opposing sanctuary policies, defending fairness in women’s sports and insisting government work for taxpayers.
Hochul may have grown up in Erie County, but she’s fallen in line with the New York City politicians running the show in Albany.
We don’t need a governor who says “Go Bills” at a bar in Brooklyn while standing with people whose views are far removed from the average Western New Yorker’s. We need a governor who will fight to lower energy bills, back the police, grow jobs, and respect the taxpayers who keep this state running.
We need Bruce Blakeman as our next governor.
Michael Kracker is chairman of the Erie County Republican Committee and upstate vice chair of the New York GOP.
