Statement from Chairman Cox on Cuomo's
Tappan Zee Bridge Reversal
August 22, 2017
Chairman Cox issued the following statement following news reports the Governor reversed his position that the entire Thruway Authority would absorb the cost of the new Tappan Zee Bridge. The Governor's original answer was in response to a question Chairman Cox asked during a Q&A session following an address before the Association for a Better New York.
"The Governor was asked a simple, respectful question about how he's going to finance the new bridge and he's been struggling like a bug on flypaper trying to answer because he has had no plan and now he's searching for a good political response when one doesn't exist. The Governor owes the people of New York an honest, straightforward answer about the future of Tappan Zee and Thruway tolls."
