CHUCK'S BUCK$ STINK OF EPI-C PROPORTION
Special Interests Fill Schumer Campaign Coffers While New York Families Suffer
New York--August 30th...Professional politician Chuck Schumer's campaign donations from the price-gouging drugmaker Mylan is more proof he is bought and paid-for by powerful special interests at the expense of New York families, the New York Republican State Committee today charged.
Mylan, the manufacturer of the life-saving EpiPen, has been under fire for skyrocketing their prices to $600 from less than $100. Their CEO, daughter of Democratic Senator Joe Manchin and the company's Political Action Committee donated $10,000 to Schumer's campaign.
Overall, Schumer has received nearly half a million dollars in campaign contributions from the pharmaceutical industry. He received $238,000 from their associated Political Action Committees since 2004 and $195,000 from individual drug industry donors since 1999.
"It doesn't take a genius to see how professional politician Chuck Schumer exploits his position to fill his campaign coffers from powerful special interests to try to hang onto power and become the Senate Democratic leader," said NYGOP Chairman Ed Cox. "New Yorkers of all political persuasions are fed up with the broken system that has come at the expense of their families. It's time to send a message and dump Chuck."
